    We ended up paying more than 300 Euros for a week rental of a FIAT 500 in wreck condition, nothing to compare with the Smart Four Four that was specified in the booking we made. 71000 km (about 44000 mi) on the clock for this poor little Fiat, which probably never saw a single service in its entire life, broken gear knob, used tires, brakes in terrible condition, and an agonizing motor ... I could also tell about the suspension, or well the absence of it. The shock absorbers were so used that the car was constantly swinging like a gondola, even on straight roads. On top of that it was dirty and dusty (see the dust on the photo of the dashboard).

    Very bad customer experience, the person at the airport counter tries to scare you into buying special rhodium package. Never had such a bad experience even though I have faced my fare share of sales pitch on excess insurance, pre-buy petrol and upgrades. This one takes the cake

    Definitely a bad company which steal your money. The Bond is taken from your account instead of blocking the value. 2 days after the check-in the bond as been paid back less 134€. They charged me an upper class which i never asked (50€), airport fees (12€), and extra clean (34€).

    Be very careful with this company. They headline the rental comparison sites with the best rates but when you pick the car up they explain that on top of the cost of renting the car, you'll pay a deposit for the fuel which will be reimbursed minus €23 'tax' if you return with a full tank. After querying it transpires that the €23 is in fact an 'administration fee' or hidden charge. Furthermore on returning the car they identified a small scratch for which they charged €300. I would strongly urge you avoid.

    We then went to meet the guy supposed to hand us the car. Don't expect any sort of professional service here. After walking for a while around the parking area rolling our suitcases behind us, we spotted a bunch of thugs hanging around with a basket of keys. They looked more like a gang of crack dealers than employees from a reputable car rental company. But they were obviously a perfect illustration of what GoldCar really is... I handed the rental contract to a guy with sunglasses who did not even address us a single "hello" or any other sort of salutation. He searched his bag for a while, still silent he handed me a key and turned his back.

    We booked a car online from Gold Car for a week in prevision of our holidays to Fuerteventura.

    The price was reasonable (about 70 Euros) and we also paid an extra coverage to have full insurance. When we arrived at the airport, the guy told us that everything was already paid and cleared, but we still had to pay 50 Euros deposit for the fuel. These 50 Euros would be refunded if we returned the car with a full gas tank. It was kind of unexpected practice but we could cope with this. Now came the surprise! When I handed over my credit card I could not believe the amount displayed on the terminal: 238.90 Euros.
